I was recently hired to design a logo for a boutique travel advisor who specializes in planning adventure vacations for adults over a certain age. The concept of this business really intrigued me and I immediately had a flood of visual ideas that I wanted to explore as design options.
I began the design process with a discussion with the business owner to gain as much information as possible about the business and its purpose. It’s always essential that the design suit the business it represents and effectively communicates its mission visually. Following the meeting, I did due diligence and I researched any competitors to gain a sense of how they represent themselves. Thumbnail sketches were next, as I brainstormed my ideas and sketched out as many ideas as I could. The sketches helped me to immediately see which ideas had potential and which I wanted to explore further.
My next step was to take my selected designs to the computer and digitize them. Using Adobe Illustrator to bring my ideas to life, I had to be careful not to overwork any one idea, which is always a challenge for any perfectionist! The ensuing designs were then digitally delivered to the client who gave direction on her thoughts and how she wanted to see the visual evolve.
Here are a few images of the designs as they evolved.
After many months of revising my designs and consulting with the client, we arrived at a final product. At last, the Wild Side of Travel’s new logo is here!
